I’m pretty excited about Edmonton’s newest vegan/vegetarian cafe. The new cafe is called The Moth Cafe and it is located on Jasper Avenue in downtown Edmonton.
Cafe mosaic on Whyte Ave is my go-to “watering hole” for vegan and vegetarian options. They have a lot of gluten-free options so I frequent there on the regular.
So naturally, I was pretty excited to hear about a new place opening up downtown. For starters when you walk in the space is breathtaking… Serious Vancouver vibes up in here. GREENERY YES. Not to mention the perfect cozy space they have in the back. This space is designed perfectly and it is very inviting. Can you come decorate my place?
I’m pretty impressed with all of the new places opening up in Edmonton in the last year. Go Edmonton!
The menu at The Moth Cafe is massive and filled with lots of delicious items. The prices are very reasonable for raw and vegan ingredients.
I’ve had the peppermint/lavender tea latte twice and I’m already obsessed. Next time I’ll try something new but I went for my go-to: gluten-free avocado toast with coconut bacon. YUM.
I know I will be back soon so there is lots of time to try out the menu!
Be sure to check this place out. Even if you’re not vegan/vegetarian don’t be afraid to try some plant-based foods, they won’t disappoint.
With everyone getting married, having kids, moving forward with their life sometimes it’s hard not to feel set back. I honestly believe everyone moves at their own pace. Everyone wants different things in life and I literally LOVE THAT. Also, can we just take a moment to realize that literally is totally the new “like” No two people are alike and how AMAZING is that? I’m truly content with my life and my choices and I thought I would share some fun milestones.
So let’s take a HOT MINUTE to go over 15 random Milestones to be proud of: (in general, OBVY there is much more)
Failing and or/ Hitting rock bottom.. okay this sounds kind of aggressive but….. If you are able to be resilient and turn the negativity in your life into motivation and do better YOU are on the road to moving forward. If I didn’t hit rock bottom in my life I wouldn’t be where I am today.
Moving away from home or moving out of your parent’s house. I moved to BC when I was 19 and I was wowed. I mean a small town GAL hanging out in Vancouver. I was never the same after that. How do you know what you want and love if you haven’t stepped out of your comfort zone? I remember being 23 in university, I got a bursary to do a French program in Montreal and live there for the summer and I was like “omg I feel old everyone there will be like 18, I went back to school late” little did I know there were people 10 years older than me. It was an experience I will never forget. The experience wasn’t forgotten but the french…..?? ahh bonjour means hello right? Just playing.
You’ve traveled.. whether it’s in Canada or if you’ve lived in Europe, the US etc. Travel changes you period.
Making a major decision in your life without asking anyone because let’s face it you’re a bad ass betch who is capable of ANYTHANG.
Owning your first pet, because ahhmm I mean I have 3 and I’m responsible for living breathing things. && a lot of love and work goes into keeping my babies happy! So if your a fur mama or papa be proud.
TRYING NEW FOOD, okay if I’m completely honest, I use to be a chicken fingers and fries kinda girl.. my palette was pretty boring. I drank coolers and ate bland food. It wasn’t until I moved to Vancouver I started to dip into some “mysterious foods” I remember I was doing data entry at a law firm and everyone would go out for “sushi” and I was like okay ew do they have fries and gravy or…. it literally got to a point where I felt left out.. haha and I just started trying new things. Fast forward to 2017 8 years later give me anything I promise I will love it. There was a time I only ate California rolls LOL Vietnamese? Japanese? I’ve eaten octopus, escargot and my favorite food is literally Poke (raw fish) who am I? I’ve come a long way from a chicken finger kinda gal.
Paying off DEBT. Because I mean who hasn’t spent a little more than they should have. Travelling and avocado toast really adds up am I right? #extra
Never apologizing for yourself, but embracing YOU and all the flaws you have without apology. You never have to be sorry for being you. EVER! I mean unless your Donald Trump, than be sorry maybe…(no political debate PLZ haha) Want to wear jeggings for the rest of your life? Do you girlfriend. #alphafemale
Having a passion and following through with it. Go you! Let’s face it nobody wants to be vanilla. Finding your passion is the best feeling in the world! You are never too old to do you.
When you know how much you can and cannot drink.. okay so this is a little hilarious but….
Who hasn’t experienced this night maybe once or maybe a dozen times? A bottle of Malbec, vodka shots I’m okay.. 3/4 shots of tequila = table dancing and not so much… haha regardless. What is the limit to how much I can drink? THE LIMIT DOES NOT EXIST. Okay, I totally quoted mean girls in my last blog post. So…your not 20 anymore and you know your limits. Black out drunk isn’t so cute anymore. Plus I can’t be the only 20 something who gets horrendous hangovers. Applause to you-you bad ass betch 👏🏼
When you’ve learned to take care of your MENTAL HEALTH… Okay it’s 2017 mental health is important. If you want to be a functioning twenty-something you need to look after your physical and mental health. I totally need at least one day a week where I can be a total piece of shit or I’m a pretty grumpy bear. Netflix + cat and dog snuggles + junk food.
Learning to not sweat the small stuff. So I’m sure you’ve heard this bazillion times but its so important. The feeling of overcoming this is amazing!
Appreciating the beauty of life and adventure without posting it on social media. Have you ever had a moment so raw and beautiful taking your phone out would completely destroy the moment? So DONT. Okay, I know this is hard. Especially for myself, I love sharing bits of my life on social media. I’m totally that girl with the flash on as bright as the SUNNN on snap chat. I’m very fortunate for the opportunities I’ve had through social media but sometimes you just need a break. Honestly, try to go a day without your phone it feels good. But don’t go to the dog park without your phone because if you’re like me you might start to picture some criminal minds episode gone wrong as the sun slips away.. because the only flashlight I’ve ever purchased is on my iPhone.
Falling in love, being completely content alone, getting married, having kids, not having kids, whatever your heart desires these are such important milestones in life.
& last but not least (pretty hilarious) actually getting gas in your vehicle before the gas light comes on. IM SO BAD FOR THIS! I cant be the only 28-year old that is guilty of this. I gassed up this week before my gas light came on and I felt like a bad ass betch. #adulting #organized ha ha!
So there you have it 15 random AF milestones! Some may be silly and arbitrary but some may resonate with you! Do you have any random milestones to be proud of?
I’d love to hear about it!
So ahhhhh my Nova Scotia trip home! Edmonton friends if you haven’t seen Eastern Canada it is a must. I mean even though it’s like a bazillion dollars to fly across Canada? I could literally fly Edmonton to Honolulu and back! WHATS UP WITH THAT? Anyway, we will save my rant for flying across the country for another day. J feeeeel.. Speaking of which I should book my flight home for Christmas before it’s like $1300 or MAYBE HONOLULU INSTEAD! JK I need to see my FAMJAM. Ok moving along…
So my recent trip to Nova Scotia was a blast. I was home for two weeks and I soaked up every minute of it. My family is in Cape Breton, so I spent the majority of my time there. Cape Breton definitely moves at a slower pace. I’ve always been a city girl and I do love Halifax, but Cape Breton will always be near and dear to my heart. For those of you that don’t know, Cape Breton is a beautiful island in Nova Scotia with SWEEPING ocean views. Ugh, the ocean makes my skin oh so hydrated. Now that I’m back in Alberta my skin will now turn into a wrinkly boot. Don’t get me wrong I love Edmonton but who doesn’t love HYDRATED SKIN from the ocean?
During my time home, my family took a trip to the Cabot Trail. It was the perfect day. My dad passed away 5 years ago and there isn’t a second where I don’t think of his witty humor. I miss him dearly. We talked about Dad a lot that day and all of the wonderful memories we’ve had in the past. It really felt like he was there. It was truly a beautiful day and I will cherish it forever. If you wondering what the limit is to my mother playing Luke Bryan songs, THE LIMIT DOES NOT EXIST. Also, I remember changing my brother’s diapers and now they are basically MEN. Oh did I mention my brother Devon has his FULL LICENCE and a CAR? Ok, I’m ancient. Oh and now that Aaron is 15, Mom finally let him take his training wheels off his bike. #proudsister Maybe 16 is the year she will teach you how to cut the crust off your Bologna sandwich (ha he will get me back for this) Don’t worry we all have my fathers twisted humor. Besides spending the majority of my trip eating seafood, I really went home to stand in my Best Friends Wedding. I SAY A LITTLE PRAYER FOR YOU.
“The moment I wake up
Before I put on my makeup
I say a little pray for you
While combing my hair now
And wondering what dress to wear now
I say a little prayer for you”
Belting out excessively over here……..ANYONE? Ok, moving along. So I listened to The Rankins (Cape Breton celebrities) watched my beautiful friend say I do, danced, drank OH BOY DID WE DRINK and created wonderful memories! During my time in Halifax, I spent a few days with my friend Carmen. FYI: Mussels at the Bicycle Thief in Halifax are the bomb.com. If you haven’t tried them, WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR? ok, I need to chill on the caps in this blog post ha ha. I swear I’m not yelling aggressively. Bicycle Thiefin Halifax is probably my favorite restaurant. Ever. Even though we were hungover pieces of crap the next day we still made it to Peggys Cove. Stillwell Beer garden really sneaks up on you when you end up at the dome on a Monday night. Also, I broke my two year “No Dome Streak” #domeishome (Carmen’s idea obviously) So that is basically it! I wish I took more photos of this beautiful province but I was truly too busy enjoying my time home. Whoever I didn’t have time to see I apologize, I will be back soon. It’s really nice to put your phone down once in awhile and hear the waves crashing on the rocks. If you have any questions on Nova Scotia, feel free to reach out to me.

So I have a page on my blog called “coffee culture” and I’ve yet to post anything on cafes. When I first started my blog I had the intention of doing mostly travel and cafes. Well, this is where I start! I’ve been to almost every cafe in Edmonton. Yes, you heard that correctly ALMOST every cafe. I like my treats and my caffeine what can I say? Plus cute spaces and minimalist decor know the way to my soul. Every week I’m going to post a new blog post about a cafe I love in Edmonton. My first week is going to be Little Brick Cafe.
So when I first moved to Edmonton from Halifax last year, I had maybe 4 friends, Stephen, my dog, and my two cats. So naturally, I spent a lot of time alone exploring my new city. Fun fact of the day; I’m absolutely terrible with directions. A few months ago I asked Stephen what side of the city the West Edmonton Mall was on? ……………….. Needless to say, instantly I knew what I had asked. He brings it up quite often as you can imagine. I rarely use my GPS anymore so PHEW! I can finally get around Edmonton! GO ME!
The first time I put Little Brick Cafe in my GPS it brought me to a residential area. I remember thinking this can’t be right? Where in the heck am I? It was right! Little Brick Cafe is nestled in the heart of Edmonton. It is located in a beautiful brick home. They have brunch, sweets, snacks, and delicious drinks! This is the perfect place to sit back on a comfy couch and read a good book!
“Little Brick is a café, general store, private event and office space in the heart of Edmonton’s Riverdale community. It has been built into the original 1903 home of J.B. Little, who owned the once thriving Brickyard. From scones and tea with a friend to a family birthday party dinner, Little Brick is founded on the belief that community helps us build great things.”
